I had an incredible opportunity to tour the training center at Assistance Home Care, designed specifically to help seniors live safely and comfortably at home for as long as they choose.
The thoughtful details throughout the home amazed me—clearly marked labels, a stop sign at the door, interactive pet toys, and even carefully chosen colors. For example, black mats enhance depth perception, while a closet door designed to look like a bookcase helps prevent unnecessary openings.
Seeing these features brought back memories of my mother caring for my grandmother at home. Some details felt so familiar, like grab bars in the bathroom and clear labels in the kitchen, especially around the stove. But I also discovered so many other clever ideas that could make a real difference for aging in place.
Assistance Home Care offers education and training to the public as well, so if you’re interested, reach out to them! And if you or a loved one are navigating a transition, let me know how I can help you.
